For the first time ever, Åsa Jungnelius’ contemporary classic Snippan is being presented as a smaller sculpture that can also be used as a bowl. Since it was first created in 2003, Snippan has become a contemporary feminist symbol. The sculpture is part of Nationalmuseum’s collection (Sweden’s museum of art and design). Snippan Pink for the Kosta Boda Artist Collection is cast in a graphite mold and colored in the hotshop here in Kosta.
Åsa Jungnelius, born in 1975, is among the leading pioneers of the contemporary movement of feminist and handicraft-driven Swedish artists who emerged in the 2000s. Her breakthrough arrived in 2004 with her degree project for the University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm, entitled Your hair is so pretty!
